Captain John Cuthbert Stairs ’09

Died: September 15, 1916

Lieut. John C. Stairs, son of Geo. Stairs, Esq., of Halifax, came to Upper Canada College as a boarder in 1905, and left us in 1908. He graduated at Dalhousie University in 191 2, and took up law as his profession.

He was attached to the 25th Battalion in the 2nd Expedition Force as a lieutenant, was wounded in October, 1915, and met his death in action September, 1916. Lieut. Stairs had been mentioned for bravery by the Official Canadian Eye Witness.
